Open Defecation along Lagos/Ibadan Expressway LASEPA, OGSEPA Vow to Enforce the Law

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and the  (OGSEPA) have launched a joint campaign to stop open defecation along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.  This campaign aims to prevent the spread of cholera and other diseases, as well as restore the aesthetic appeal of the newly rehabilitated road.

The campaign includes a clean-up exercise, public enlightenment, and interactive sessions with commuters and residents to raise awareness about the dangers of open defecation and encourage behavioral change.  The agencies have also engaged relevant stakeholders to police the area against further degradation and established a strong enforcement team to prosecute offenders of environmental regulations.

Additionally, the state government has urged residents to utilize designated toilet facilities for the sake of public health and the environment. Petrol filling stations and eateries along the axis have been asked to allow the public access to their conveniences pending the completion of multiple public toilet projects across the state.
