Nigerian rapper and fashion entrepreneur, Zlatan Ibile, has spoken out against the growing trend of publicly shaming individuals who wear fake designer products. In a viral video, Zlatan condemned the actions of some of his colleagues who call out people for wearing counterfeit items, emphasizing that it’s wrong to mock those who cannot afford original designer products.
According to Zlatan, individuals who wear fake designers should not be ridiculed or shamed. Instead, they should be allowed to upgrade to original products when they can afford them. He stated, “People wey dey buy fake, make dem dey buy am until dey get money to buy original. Person wey wear fake today, go wear original tomorrow.”
Zlatan’s comments come on the heels of recent incidents where fashion entrepreneurs have publicly called out celebrities for wearing fake designer products. For instance, Rahman Jago, a fashion entrepreneur, recently criticized veteran singer Oritse Femi for wearing fake High Fashion. Similarly, Olayinka Ashogbon, the CEO of Ashluxe, called out singer Lyta for wearing fake designs of his clothing brand.
Zlatan’s stance on this issue highlights the importance of empathy and understanding in the fashion industry. By acknowledging that not everyone can afford original designer products, Zlatan is promoting a more inclusive and supportive approach to fashion.
