Zamfara Roadside Bombing Claims 12 Lives, Leaving Communities in Fear

A devastating roadside bombing incident occurred on Wednesday in Zamfara State, resulting in the tragic loss of 12 lives. The explosion happened when a Gulf Wagon car conveying 11 passengers from Gusau to Dansadau drove over an explosive device planted by bandits around the Mai Lamba area along Dansadau-Gusau Road in Maru local government area.

According to eyewitnesses, the blast was so severe that it killed all the passengers in the vehicle, leaving their bodies burnt beyond recognition. A resident of the area, Malam Murtala Sani, narrated the incident, stating that the explosion scattered the flesh of the passengers, making it difficult to identify them.

This incident is the second to occur on the same road within a span of three days, with the first incident resulting in the death of a driver. The repeated attacks have left the communities in the area living in fear, with many calling on the government to take immediate action to protect them.

The spokesperson of the Zamfara State Police Command, ASP Yazeed Abubakar, was unreachable for comment at the time of filing this report.

The incident has raised concerns about the growing insecurity in Zamfara State, with many questioning the government’s ability to protect its citizens. The communities affected by the attacks are urging the government to take decisive action to address the security challenges facing the state.
