The Zamfara State chapter of the Association of Small Scale Miners of Nigeria has called on Hajia Fatima Umaru-Shinkafi, the newly re-appointed Executive Secretary of Solid Minerals Development Fund and Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative (SMDF/PAGMI), to prioritize job creation for youths. This appeal comes as the association believes Shinkafi’s appointment should further consolidate, deepen, and strengthen the solid minerals sector.
According to Alhaji Abubakar Rabiu, chairman of the association, Shinkafi’s appointment is a fulfillment of President Tinubu’s campaign promise to appoint women to key government positions. The association urged Shinkafi to use her position to attract foreign investors, empower local miners, and provide jobs to thousands of youths.
The association emphasized that Shinkafi’s appointment should justify the confidence Nigerians have in her to drive the non-oil sector of the economy, aligning with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. This agenda aims to create a prosperous, equitable, and just democratic nation.
In a statement, the association noted that Shinkafi’s position offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of youths in Zamfara State. The association encouraged Nigerians to support Shinkafi in her efforts to create a better society.
