Renowned Nollywood actor, Yinka Quadri, has spoken out about the distressing effects of his death rumour on his family. In June, a false report of Quadri’s passing sparked widespread concern among his fans and family members.
Quadri, who was 65 years old at the time, promptly debunked the rumour on his Instagram page, assuring his followers that he was “alive and well.” However, in a recent interview with Oyinmomo TV, Quadri expressed his disappointment and frustration with the individuals responsible for spreading the false news.
The veteran actor revealed that the rumour caused his family immense stress and anxiety, particularly his children who reside overseas. Despite their regular communication, the rumour led to a surge in calls from his children, who were frantic with worry about his well-being.
Quadri recounted the experience, saying, “When I saw the news, I said, ‘Well done, you content creators.’ Although no one would be happy when people spread death rumours about them. But I leave the person behind the rumours to God’s judgment. If the person thinks that causing sadness in people’s families is an opportunity to attain success.”
He further emphasized the impact on his family, stating, “Despite the fact that my children are overseas and we have constant communication every three days, they were like, ‘I still spoke to Daddy last week.’ It got to a stage where everybody became troubled. They now started calling in the morning, afternoon, and called again at night to confirm my well-being.”
Quadri’s experience serves as a poignant reminder of the harm caused by spreading false information and the importance of verifying news before sharing it.
