The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), in collaboration with IHS Nigeria and the governments of Canada and Norway, has inaugurated a medical oxygen plant at the Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital in Kano State.
The plant, officially handed over on Tuesday, aims to bolster the hospital’s capacity to provide critical respiratory support to patients, particularly newborns and individuals with respiratory illnesses.
Mr. Dapo Otunla, Vice President of IHS Nigeria, represented the Chief Executive Officer during the inauguration ceremony. He emphasized the importance of the project in strengthening the healthcare infrastructure in Kano State and improving access to essential medical services.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance healthcare delivery across Nigeria, with similar projects underway in other states, including Oyo and Kaduna, where UNICEF and IHS Nigeria have previously launched medical oxygen plants.
