In a significant development, troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have successfully eliminated a notorious bandit leader, Sani Rusu, and dozens of his foot soldiers during a fierce gun battle in Zamfara State.
The major victory took place on Saturday, January 4, in Bamamu village, Tsafe Local Government Area, as part of an intelligence-driven operation aimed at disrupting terrorist activities in the region.
In a related development, troops conducted an ambush operation at Kwanar Jollof in Shinkafi Local Government Area, based on credible intelligence about terrorist movements. This operation resulted in the
neutralization of additional terrorists, while others sustained fatal injuries. During the operations, troops recovered a cache of weapons, including: One AK-47 rifle, One G3 rifle, Eight rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, Four rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, Three magazines, Three motorcycles, Air Component’s Precision Airstrikes.
The Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma also played a crucial role in the operation, conducting precision airstrikes on December 30, 2024. These airstrikes targeted terrorists converging between
Fakai and Kware in Shinkafi LGA, disrupting their plans and inflicting significant damage.
