A devastating attack has occurred in Kakin Dawa village, a district in Gidan Goga, Maradun Local Government Area, Zamfara State. Gunmen suspected to be bandits stormed the village at approximately 1:30 am on Sunday, wielding sophisticated weapons and moving from house to house. The terrifying incident resulted in the abduction of over 50 women and children.
According to a community member, the villagers were caught off guard, and chaos erupted as everyone scrambled to safety. It was only later that the true extent of the tragedy became clear: more than 50 women, including young girls and married women, had been taken by the armed bandits.
The community member appealed to both the federal and Zamfara State governments to deploy additional military and security personnel to the area to combat the terrorists. This plea comes amidst growing concerns about the escalating insecurity in the region.
Unfortunately, efforts to obtain a reaction from the State police command spokesman, ASP Yazid Abubakar, were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
This incident is a stark reminder of the ongoing security challenges facing Zamfara State and the country as a whole. The abduction of innocent women and girls is a heinous act that demands swift and decisive action from the authorities.
