A devastating auto crash occurred on Friday in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, resulting in the tragic loss of three policemen and a female suspect. The incident happened when a truck lost control and rammed into the vehicle the police operatives were traveling in.
According to eyewitnesses, the police officers, who were part of the monitoring unit of the police command in the state, had left Akure, the state capital, to effect an arrest in Ore before the incident. Unfortunately, the identities of the victims have not been disclosed as of press time.
A source who wished to remain anonymous revealed that the victims died on the spot, while one police officer sustained serious injuries and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital. The source explained that “the truck lost control while descending the Ore Bridge and rammed into the police vehicle that was in front of it.”
It was later discovered that the female victim was a suspect who the police officers had come to arrest from Akure. The State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced that a report regarding the accident will soon be issued.
This tragic incident highlights the risks and sacrifices made by law enforcement officers in the line of duty. The Ondo State Police Command has not officially released a statement on the incident, but an investigation is expected to be launched soon.
