Tragedy struck Benue State on Sunday morning as suspected herdsmen launched a deadly attack on Azege settlement, Mbaya, Tombo Ward, Logo Local Government Area, leaving 13 people dead and numerous others injured. The attack, which occurred around 7 a.m, also resulted in widespread destruction, including the burning of homes, farmlands, and crops.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers, who were armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the settlement and began shooting sporadically, killing and injuring many in the process. The attack has sent shockwaves throughout the community, with many residents fleeing their homes in fear of further violence.
The Benue State government has condemned the attack, describing it as “barbaric and senseless.” The government has also promised to take swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice and to provide support to the affected families.
This latest attack is part of a larger pattern of violence that has plagued Benue State in recent years, with many communities being targeted by suspected herdsmen. The attack has raised concerns about the safety and security of residents in the state, and has highlighted the need for urgent action to address the root causes of the violence.
