In a significant development, President Bola Tinubu has given his consent to establish a federal university in Southern Kaduna. This announcement was made by Vice President Kashim Shettima during a condolence visit to the Kukah family, who were mourning the loss of Yohanna Kukah, the Agwom Akulu of Ikulu Chiefdom.
According to VP Shettima, the proposed university is part of the federal government’s efforts to address the developmental needs of Southern Kaduna. The region has faced various challenges in the past, and this initiative aims to enhance educational opportunities and promote growth.
In addition to the university, discussions are underway to establish a Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, Kaduna State. This move is expected to improve healthcare services in the region and complement the university’s academic programs.
VP Shettima emphasized that President Tinubu is committed to the development of Southern Kaduna, citing the recent appointment of General Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff as evidence of the government’s focus on enhancing security in the region.
The Vice President also commended Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, for his inclusive governance approach, which involves connecting all community segments to foster a sense of belonging.
