A devastating series of terrorist attacks has struck the Chibok Local Government Area in Borno State, leaving a trail of destruction and despair in its wake.
Governor Babagana Zulum has confirmed that the recent attacks have displaced 74 households, claimed the lives of five innocent people, and injured two others.The attacks, which targeted the villages of Bamzir, Njilang, Shikarkir, and Yimirmugza, resulted in the
destruction of five churches, market stalls, and properties worth millions of naira. The sheer scale of destruction has prompted Governor Zulum to express grave concern and condemn the rising tide of terrorism in the Borno South Senatorial District.In a security council
meeting held on Friday, Governor Zulum emphasized the need for enhanced military action to address the threat posed by the insurgents. While acknowledging the firm grip of security forces on the region, he noted that some areas require more tactical measures to bridge existing gaps.Describing Chibok
as a symbol of resilience and recovery, Governor Zulum vowed that the terrorists would not succeed in derailing the progress made in the state. He assured residents that his administration is working closely with security agencies to strengthen military operations in the region, shifting strategies from a defensive to an offensive posture.
The governor also urged communities to remain united and resilient in the face of threats, emphasizing the importance of working together to overcome the challenges posed by terrorism.
