Senator Barau Jibrin, representing Kano North, has taken a significant step in promoting education in his constituency by sponsoring 70 students from Kano State to pursue Master’s degrees in India. The scholarship program, focused on science and technology fields, including Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, aims to equip these students with the knowledge and skills necessary to drive development in Nigeria.
According to Senator Jibrin, the primary objective of this initiative is to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds, addressing the pressing issue of limited access to quality education in Northern Nigeria. “We are aware that the major challenge facing the North is lack of education. The abundance of youths is a blessing, but this blessing will not benefit the nation unless they are given quality education,” he emphasized.
The students, selected based on merit, will study various fields, including AI, Robotics Engineering, and other modern sciences. Senator Jibrin urged the beneficiaries to be good ambassadors of Kano State and Nigeria, advising them to focus on their studies and return home to develop themselves and the nation.
This scholarship program is part of Senator Jibrin’s efforts to promote academic excellence and human capital development in Kano State. He noted that education is the bedrock of any nation’s development, and with well-educated youths in science and technology, Nigeria will reap immense benefits.
One of the beneficiaries, Salisu Auwal Musa from Nasarawa Local Government, expressed his gratitude to Senator Jibrin for the opportunity to study Robotics Science in India. “This is a great achievement for me and my family, and I thank Senator Jibrin for this support,” he said.
This initiative is expected to be an annual program, with Senator Jibrin committed to continuing the scholarship scheme to support more students in the future.
