In a recent address, Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Development, Professor Ali Pate, urged northern traditional leaders to rally behind President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Pate emphasized the importance of their support, particularly in praying for the president’s success in tackling the country’s challenges.

The minister’s plea comes amidst controversy surrounding the Tax Reform Bills proposed by the presidency. Traditional rulers and authorities from the northern region have expressed strong opposition to the bills, arguing that they would exacerbate poverty in the region.

Despite these challenges, Pate remains optimistic about President Tinubu’s administration, citing its commitment to resolving the country’s problems. He acknowledged the significant role traditional leaders play in promoting the health and wellbeing of their communities, commending their efforts in this regard.

Pate also highlighted several initiatives undertaken by the federal government to improve healthcare delivery. These include the revitalization of 4,000 primary healthcare centres across the country, with plans to revitalize more centres nationwide. Additionally, the government has launched the Human Capital Opportunities For Property and Equity (HOPE) programme, which has raised $700 million to support the health sector.

The minister further mentioned the medical relief programmes approved by President Tinubu, aimed at reducing the cost of health services and drugs for Nigerians. These initiatives demonstrate the administration’s dedication to improving the lives of citizens.

Pate’s call for support from northern traditional leaders underscores the importance of collaboration between government and community leaders in addressing the country’s challenges. By working together, they can help drive positive change and improve the wellbeing of Nigerians.
