The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly condemned the recent impeachment of local government chairmen by councillors in some states,
alleging that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is behind the plot. This development has further intensified the ongoing political tensions between the PDP and the APC.
The PDP has accused the APC of orchestrating the impeachment of its chairmen, citing the case of Okpebholo, where the party claims the APC is attempting to hijack the local government administration.
The PDP has warned the APC to desist from its alleged undemocratic actions, stating that it will not tolerate any further interference in the affairs of local government councils.
The impeachment of LG chairmen has been reported in several states, with councillors citing allegations of misconduct, incompetence, and mismanagement of funds.
However, the PDP has dismissed these allegations as baseless and politically motivated, claiming that the APC is using the impeachment as a tool to weaken the opposition party’s grip on local government administration.
The PDP has vowed to take all necessary steps to protect its interests and ensure that the rule of law is upheld. The party has called on its members to remain calm and law-abiding, while also urging the APC to desist from its alleged undemocratic actions.
