Pancreatic cancer is a highly aggressive and deadly disease with low survival rate, High mortality rate and Rapid progression.

Affects the global population especially people above 45 years and those with a family history.

HOW DOES SUGAR ADDICTION CONTRIBUTE??

The connection between sugar addiction and pancreatic cancer may seem complex, involving multiple steps that ultimately contribute to the development and growth of cancer cells.

Firstly, regularly consuming high-sugar foods and drinks leads to insulin resistance a precursor to type 2 diabetes. Insulin resistance increases production of Insulin-like Growth Factor (IGF), a protein that promotes cell growth and division. Elevated IGF levels stimulate the growth and division of pancreatic cells, potentially leading to cancerous mutations.

Again,excessive sugar consumption triggers chronic inflammation in the body, damaging pancreatic cells and increasing cancer risk. A diet high in sugar also disrupts the balance of gut bacteria, leading to changes in metabolic processes and potentially contributing to cancer development.

Cancer cells, including pancreatic cancer cells, rely heavily on glucose (sugar)for energy and growth.

This means that a diet high in sugar can potentially accelerate cancer growth, making sugar addiction a significant risk factor for pancreatic cancer.

While sugar addiction is not the sole cause of pancreatic cancer, it can increase the risk and potentially accelerate cancer growth. Therefore, limiting sugar intake and maintaining a balanced diet can help reduce this risk.

Foods to LIMIT or AVOID

1. Processed meats: High in sodium nitrite, which may increase cancer risk.

2. Sugary drinks: Contribute to insulin resistance, a risk factor for pancreatic cancer.

3. Refined carbohydrates: May increase insulin resistance and cancer risk.

4. Fried foods: High in calories, fat, and sodium, which can worsen treatment side effects.

5. High-sugar foods: May feed cancer cells and worsen treatment outcomes.

Nutrients and supplements you need 

1. Curcumin (turmeric): Anti-inflammatory properties may inhibit cancer cell growth.

2. Vitamin D: May have anti-cancer effects and improve treatment outcomes.

3. Omega-3 fatty acids: Anti-inflammatory effects may reduce cancer risk and improve treatment outcomes.
