The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced that more than 310 million litres of petrol are now ready for loading and distribution to the Nigerian market. This marks another major milestone in the refinery’s operations as it moves closer to full-scale domestic fuel supply.
According to a statement from the company, the refined petrol meets the highest international standards and is fully compliant with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) specifications. The management also disclosed that all necessary regulatory checks have been completed, paving the way for the commencement of distribution to oil marketers.
The refinery stated that the 310 million litres currently available represent the first batch of premium motor spirit (PMS) refined from locally sourced crude oil, further boosting Nigeria’s capacity to achieve energy self-sufficiency.
Officials of the Dangote Group noted that this development will significantly reduce the country’s dependence on imported petroleum products, stabilize pump prices, and strengthen the naira by cutting down on foreign exchange spent on fuel importation.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), oil marketers, and other relevant agencies to ensure a smooth and transparent distribution process across the country.
With production capacity expected to increase in the coming weeks, the refinery’s management expressed optimism that Nigeria will soon become a net exporter of refined petroleum products, further solidifying its position as a key player in Africa’s energy market.
