The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a bold step by suspending former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, over alleged anti-party activities. This decision was made due to Aregbesola’s establishment of a splinter faction within the party, which has created divisions and undermined cohesion and unity, especially during a critical period in Osun politics. According to the state party chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal, Aregbesola’s actions have fueled internal divisions within the party. The suspension was formally communicated to the APC National Secretariat in a resolution addressed to National Chairman Dr. Umar Ganduje.

Aregbesola’s camp has yet to respond to the suspension. The development highlights the ongoing internal struggles within the Osun APC and raises questions about the party’s ability to present a united front in future elections.
