Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has urged security agencies to develop and implement effective strategies to ensure the protection of lives and property during the Christmas period. This call was made during a courtesy visit by the new Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Mr. Lanre Ogunlowo, to the governor’s office in Abeokuta.
Governor Abiodun commended the security agencies for maintaining peace and tranquility in the state, but noted that the Christmas period often presents unique security challenges. He emphasized the need for inter-agency synergy and cooperation to address these challenges, particularly in a state like Ogun, which shares borders with four states and an international border.
The governor highlighted the issue of cultism, which is prevalent in some parts of the state, and urged the new police chief to work with other agencies to find a lasting solution. He also emphasized the importance of community support and cooperation in achieving effective security.
To address these security concerns, Governor Abiodun’s administration has taken several steps, including:
Reinvigorating the State Security Trust Fund_ to provide modern equipment and logistics to security agencies
Procuring patrol vehicles and equipment to support the police and other security agencies
Enhancing inter-agency synergy to promote cooperation and information sharing among security agencies
