OAU final-year student crushed to death

A final-year student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has been killed in a tragic accident. The student, whose identity has not been disclosed, was knocked down and killed by a Lexus car with Abuja Registration Number ABJ 427 LQ driven by one Lasisi Sodiq Segun.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred on the university campus, near the student’s hostel. The driver, Lasisi Sodiq Segun, is said to have lost control of the vehicle, which struck the student, resulting in instant death.

The university community is in shock and mourning the loss of the student. The management of OAU has condoled with the family of the deceased, expressing deep sorrow over the tragic incident.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear student. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the deceased. We pray that God grants them the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” said a spokesperson for the university.

The police have taken custody of the driver, Lasisi Sodiq Segun, and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. The vehicle involved in the accident has also been impounded.

Students of OAU have taken to social media to mourn the loss of their colleague, calling for improved road safety measures on the university campus.

“This is a tragic reminder of the need for caution and vigilance on our roads. We must do everything possible to prevent such incidents in the future,” said a student who wished to remain anonymous.

The university management has promised to provide support to the family of the deceased and to take steps to prevent such incidents in the future.
