The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has kicked off a sensitisation campaign in Jigawa State, aimed at educating citizens on the importance of tax reforms and core national ethical values ¹. This initiative comes amidst ongoing debates on the contentious Tax Reform Bills before the National Assembly.

According to Alhaji Ahmad Tijjani Ibrahim, Director of NOA in Jigawa State, the campaign seeks to raise public awareness and clear misconceptions surrounding critical national issues. Ibrahim emphasized that the controversy surrounding the Tax Reform Bills stems from public misunderstanding, which effective enlightenment can address.

Promoting Tax Reforms: To educate citizens on the benefits of tax reforms, including increased revenue for infrastructure development and public service delivery.

Fostering Ethical Values: To promote national unity, discipline, and moral values among citizens.

– _Addressing Critical Issues_: To raise awareness on issues like HIV/AIDS, insecurity, corruption, and human rights violations.

Ibrahim urged citizens to critically examine the Tax Reform Bills and open their minds to understanding the positive impact on national growth and development. He also called on the media, traditional leaders, and civil society organisations to join the campaign and promote collective national interest.

By launching this sensitisation campaign, NOA aims to create a society that is healthy, secure, ethical, and united in purpose.
