The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reaffirmed that the old Port Harcourt Refinery is fully operational, with loading operations in full swing. This confirmation was made by the NNPCL Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, during the commissioning of the NUPENG Towers in Lagos.
Kyari extended an invitation to human rights activist and lawyer, Femi Falana, and all those in doubt, to join the NNPC Ltd on a tour of the nation’s refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna to verify their status. This move is aimed at addressing the skepticism surrounding the refinery’s operational status.
In addition, Kyari shed light on the controversy surrounding products blending, emphasizing that blending is an integral part of the refining process. He explained that blending is necessary to bring products to the specification of different countries or regions, as what is considered on-specification in one region may be off-specification in another.
The NNPCL CEO also congratulated NUPENG on the successful completion of the NUPENG Towers and urged the union to continue prioritizing dialogue and cooperation in its relationship with NNPC Ltd and the federal government.
Furthermore, Kyari disclosed that President Bola Tinubu’s interventions in the oil and gas industry, through Executive Orders, are yielding positive results. These interventions have attracted more investments and created prospects for more jobs in the industry.
