The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has released a weather outlook predicting hazy and cloudy weather activities from Monday to Wednesday across the country. According to the forecast, the North and North-central regions of Nigeria can expect dust haze with visibility ranging from 1km to 5km, while localized visibility of less than 1,000m is anticipated throughout the forecast period.
In the southern region, a hazy atmosphere with patches of clouds is expected during the forecast period. On Tuesday, the North and North-central regions can expect continued dust haze with visibility ranging from 1km to 5km, while the coastal region in the South can expect early morning mist or fog patches. However, sunny skies with patches of clouds are expected to prevail over the inland and coastal states later in the day.
On Wednesday, good visibility dust haze is expected in the northern region, while the North-central region can expect dust haze with moderate visibility of 1km to 5km. The southern region can expect early morning mist or fog patches over the coastal region, with few clouds in a hazy atmosphere over the inland states. There is also a slim prospect of thunderstorms over parts of Cross River, Bayelsa, Lagos, and Akwa Ibom later in the day.
NiMet has advised the public to take necessary precautions as dust particles are suspended in the air, warning individuals with asthmatic health conditions and other respiratory issues to be cautious of the present weather condition. The agency has also advised airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports (flight documentation) from NiMet for effective planning.
The predicted hazy and cloudy weather conditions are expected to impact daily activities, and the public is advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
