The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted a 3-day hazy weather condition from Saturday to Monday across the country. According to NiMet’s weather outlook, released on Friday in Abuja, moderate dust haze is expected on Saturday, with a horizontal visibility range of 2 km to 5 km over parts of Sokoto, Katsina, Kebbi, Kano, Jigawa, Zamfara, Kaduna, Niger, and Kogi states Regional Weather Forecast North and North Central Regions: Moderate dust haze with a horizontal visibility range of 2 km to 5 km is expected throughout the forecast period.
Inland Cities of the South: Slight dust haze with good visibility is expected throughout the forecast period. TyCoastal Parts of the South: A hazy atmosphere with patches of clouds is expected, with chances of afternoon or evening rains over Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Lagos states.
Precautions and Advisories
NiMet has advised the public to take necessary precautions, as dust particles are in suspension. The agency has also urged the public to adhere to safety advisories issued by relevant authorities and advised airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports (flight documentation) from its office for effective planning in their operations.
