In a significant blow to banditry and terrorism in the North West region, Nigerian troops have successfully eliminated two notorious bandit leaders, Alhaji Ma’oli and Kachalla Muchelli, in separate operations in Katsina and Zamfara States.
In Katsina State, troops conducted a decisive operation in Mai Sheka village, Kunchin Kalgo town, neutralizing an unspecified number of terrorists, including the infamous kingpin, Alhaji Ma’oli. According to Zagazola Makama, a renowned Lake Chad Basin counterterrorism and insurgency expert, intelligence sources revealed that Ma’oli was responsible for imposing levies and engaging in various criminal activities in several areas, including Unguwan Rogo, Mai Sheka, Magazawa, Unguwar Dan Halima, Unguwar Dan Mairo, and Katangan Yamma.
Similarly, in Zamfara State, troops of Counter Terrorism Team 7 (CT 7) encountered bandits during a fighting patrol on December 25 along the Bilbis-Danjigba axis under Tsafe Local Government Area. During the engagement, Kachalla Muchelli, a notorious bandit commander and leader of the Kuchi Kalgo camp, was neutralized.
The successful elimination of these notorious bandit leaders marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to combat banditry and terrorism in the North West region. The Nigerian troops’ continued offensive against terrorist elements is a testament to their unwavering commitment to restoring peace and stability in the region.
