The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has made a significant breakthrough in its efforts to ensure public safety during the Christmas celebrations, arresting 23 suspected armed robbers, hoodlums, and cultists across various states in the country. This development is in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, to emplace anti-crime strategies and guarantee adequate safety and security during the festive period.
According to Force PRO, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police operatives successfully apprehended the suspects, who belonged to multiple groups of armed robbers, cultists, and hoodlums. The arrests were made in response to distress calls and intelligence gathering, demonstrating the police force’s commitment to protecting citizens and preventing criminal activities during the holiday season.
Notable Arrests and Recoverie
In Lagos State, police operatives attached to the Lagos State Command arrested three suspected hoodlums, identified as Emmanuel Okoli, 20, Ogunde Tejiri, 20, and Emmanuel Orji, 18, and recovered weapons used in robbery attacks on innocent fun-seekers.
In Kaduna State, Police operatives attached to the Saminaka Division arrested Sule Muhammad, 25, who confessed to being a member of a notorious kidnapping gang. A fabricated AK-47 rifle was recovered from the suspect.
Commendable Efforts and Ongoing Operations
The Nigeria Police Force has also commended the efforts of its operatives in states including Delta, Ogun, Katsina, Benue, FCT, and Imo, where several suspects were arrested during the Christmas celebration period. The police force remains committed to creating a safe environment for everyone during the holiday season and urges citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
