The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has successfully facilitated the return of a 28-year-old Nigerian lady who was trafficked to Iraq. The lady, whose identity has not been disclosed, was rescued in Jordan with the assistance of the Jordanian authorities.According to a statement released by NiDCOM, the lady was trafficked to Iraq through a neighboring country, where she was subjected to various forms of exploitation. The commission worked closely with the Jordanian authorities to ensure her safe repatriation.The Chairman of NiDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, expressed her gratitude to the Jordanian government for their cooperation and assistance in rescuing the trafficked Nigerian lady. She also commended the efforts of the Nigerian Mission in Jordan for their role in facilitating the lady’s return.Dabiri-Erewa emphasized the need for increased awareness about the dangers of human trafficking and the importance of reporting suspicious activities to the authorities. She also assured that NiDCOM would continue to work tirelessly to protect the rights and interests of Nigerians in the diaspora.The repatriation of the trafficked lady is a testament to the commission’s commitment to combating human trafficking and providing support to victims.
