In a successful operation, operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, have apprehended two suspected armed robbers and cattle rustlers. The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this information in a statement made available to Spyronews on Saturday.
According to Nansel, the police received intelligence on Friday regarding an armed robbery attack on a farm in Akwanga, where the security guard was injured with a machete and 34 cows were rustled. Acting swiftly on this information, police operatives, in conjunction with the military and Vigilante, mobilized to the scene and rescued the injured security guard, providing him with medical treatment.
A thorough manhunt for the perpetrators ensued, culminating in their interception at Akun Forest, Nasarawa Eggon, where a gun duel took place. Consequently, two suspects were fatally injured and arrested, and the rustled cows were recovered.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, commended the synergy exhibited by the security operatives, which led to the success of the operation. He also expressed appreciation for the Vigilante group’s support and urged them to sustain their efforts.
This achievement demonstrates the commitment of the Nasarawa Police Command to combating crime and ensuring public safety in the state. The successful recovery of the rustled cows also highlights the effectiveness of the collaborative efforts between the police and other security agencies.
