The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has directed an immediate and thorough investigation into allegations of criminal activities, including theft, within the Okere Correctional Centre in Warri, Delta State. This move demonstrates the minister’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability within the nation’s correctional facilities. Tunji-Ojo has condemned the alleged reprehensible behavior and emphasized that any form of indiscipline and misconduct will be met with severe consequences. He has also called on the general public to provide any relevant information that may aid in the investigation.The investigation is expected to be comprehensive, with the minister demanding explanations from the leadership of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS). The minister’s stance on this matter is clear: there will be no room for indiscipline or misconduct within the correctional facilities.
