A newly identified terror group, Lakurawa, has been accused by the Zamfara State Police Command of being responsible for the recent explosions that rocked two villages in Dansadau district, Maru Local Government Area of the state.
State Police Commissioner, Muhammad Dalijan, confirmed that only one person died, while three others sustained varying degrees of injuries in the explosion at Yar Tasha village along Dansadau road ¹. The incident occurred around 8 am on Wednesday after a commercial driver conveying passengers to Dansadau town ran over an explosive device suspected to be planted by the terrorists.
According to Dalijan, preliminary investigations indicated that the explosive was planted by remnants of Lakurawa terrorists who are being pressured by soldiers to leave Nigeria. The terrorists are attempting to flee to Birnin-Gwari forest through Zamfara State but are facing serious pressure from Nigerian security forces.
This incident marks the second time an explosive device has been planted along Dansadau Road within a week. A similar incident occurred on Sunday at Mai-Gungume village, resulting in the death of a commercial driver.
Dalijan urged the public to provide useful information about the movement of these terrorists, assuring that the police will deal with them decisively.
