The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Jamie Alli-Balogun, has announced that the state government is putting an end to the mass production of students in its education system.
This move aims to improve the quality of education and ensure that students receive a well-rounded learning experience. Alli-Balogun emphasized that the era of mass promotion of students is over, and teachers will be held
accountable for the performance of their students. He warned that teachers found extorting money from students to award marks will be dismissed. To ensure that students are adequately prepared for
exams, the commissioner directed teachers to conduct regular assessments, including weekly tests. He also encouraged teachers to identify students who need extra support and provide them with additional attention.
As part of the state government’s efforts to revamp the education system, plans are underway to increase the number of technical colleges in the state. This move aims to provide more students with access to technical education and vocational training.
