
The Lagos State Police Command has announced the death of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Festac Division,
Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Matilda Ngbaronye, who sadly passed away, leaving colleagues and residents in deep sorrow.
The command, in an official statement, described the late CSP Ngbaronye as a dedicated, disciplined, and selfless officer
who served the Nigeria Police Force with exceptional professionalism and integrity throughout her career.
According to the statement, her death came as a shock to the command and the law enforcement community, as she was
known for her commitment to maintaining peace and order within the Festac Town area of Lagos.
“CSP Matilda Ngbaronye was an outstanding officer whose leadership qualities, sense of duty, and dedication to
public safety left a lasting mark in every command she served. Her sudden demise is a painful loss not only to the
Lagos State Police Command but also to the entire Nigeria Police Force,” the statement read.
The police spokesperson noted that the late officer was highly respected by both her subordinates and members of the
community, who recognized her for her calm disposition, courage, and unwavering service to humanity.
CSP Ngbaronye was also known for initiating several community policing strategies that improved the relationship
between residents and the police in Festac, helping to strengthen security and restore public confidence in law enforcement.
While details surrounding her death remain private, the command confirmed that funeral arrangements will be announced after consultations with her family.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, extended condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues,
describing her passing as a great loss to the police family and to Lagos State.
“We have lost a brave and dedicated officer who served with honor and distinction. The Lagos State Police
Command will forever remember her for her integrity, professionalism, and passion for service,” the Commissioner said.
Residents of Festac Town have also expressed their grief over the passing of CSP Ngbaronye, describing her as a firm
but compassionate officer who worked tirelessly to make their community safer.
Her legacy, according to many who knew her, will remain a symbol of dedicated policing and selfless public service in Lagos State.
