The Lagos State Police Command has announced the deployment of security personnel across key areas of the state to prevent any breach of public peace following intelligence reports about a planned protest by some youths on the Third Mainland Bridge in the Oworonshoki area.
In a statement issued early Monday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the police assured residents that comprehensive security measures have been implemented to maintain law and order across Lagos.
“The Command is aware of information circulating regarding a planned disruption on the Third Mainland Bridge by some youths in the Oworonshoki area,” the statement read.
According to SP Adebisi, police operatives have been fully mobilized and strategically positioned to protect motorists, prevent obstruction of traffic, and ensure the safety of lives and property.
She emphasized that the Command would not tolerate any act capable of disturbing public peace or disrupting the smooth flow of traffic on the bridge or anywhere within the state.
“Officers have been deployed to safeguard road users, prevent obstruction of vehicular movement, and ensure the safety of lives and property,” Adebisi said.
The police spokesperson urged Lagos residents to remain calm and continue their daily activities without panic or fear, assuring them of the Command’s readiness to respond swiftly to any security threat.
“Members of the public are therefore advised to go about their lawful activities without fear and to cooperate with security personnel carrying out their legitimate duties,” she added.
The statement further reaffirmed the Lagos State Police Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, as well as ensuring the free flow of traffic across all major routes in the state.
The Command also appealed to parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against participating in any unauthorized gathering or protest that could endanger public peace.
Residents have commended the proactive measures taken by the police, expressing confidence that the swift response will help maintain stability and prevent chaos in the metropolis.
