Idoma People Are Strong Enough to Defend Their Land From Herdsmen Attack -Och’Idoma

The paramount ruler of Idoma land, His Royal Majesty, Agabaidu Elaigwu Odogbo Obagaji John, has reaffirmed the readiness

of his people to protect their ancestral land from any form of aggression, particularly from herdsmen

attacks.Speaking during a recent public gathering in Otukpo, Benue State, the Och’Idoma emphasized that the Idoma

nation remains united and courageous in the face of any threat to its peace and territorial integrity. According to the royal

father, the people of Idoma have endured several challenges over the years, yet their resilience and unity have remained

unshaken. He called on community leaders and the youth to remain alert and law-abiding, while also ensuring that no

external force destabilizes their homeland. “Our people are strong enough to defend themselves and their land. We will not

allow anyone to take away what belongs to us or cause unnecessary bloodshed in Idoma land. However, we shall always

pursue peace and justice in accordance with the laws of our country,” the monarch said.The Och’Idoma further urged security

agencies to intensify surveillance and patrols in all border communities within the Benue South Senatorial District,

stressing that peace can only be sustained when both the people and the government work hand in hand. He also appealed to

the Federal and State Governments to provide more security presence in areas prone to attacks and to support victims of

previous incidents with relief materials and rebuilding assistance. While condemning the recent wave of attacks allegedly linked

to herdsmen in parts of Benue and neighboring states, the monarch reiterated that dialogue and mutual respect remain

vital tools for coexistence. “We believe in peaceful living among all Nigerians, but peace should never be mistaken for

weakness. Idoma people are peace-loving, yet we know how to defend our rights,” he declared.Residents of the affected

communities expressed appreciation to the royal father for his firm stance, describing his message as a morale

booster at a time when fear and uncertainty loom large in many rural areas.The Benue State Government has

repeatedly assured citizens that it is taking proactive steps to curb the menace of armed herdsmen and restore lasting peace across the state.
