In a bid to tackle the rising cases of robbery in Aladja, Udu LGA of Delta State, the vigilante and youths of the community have apprehended four suspected armed robbers. The suspects, identified as Kelvin Osgood Dukuye, 25; Roger, 30; Philip Faka, 28; and Debi, 32, were arrested at different locations in Aladja community while robbing people of their valuables, including money, phones, and POS machines, at gunpoint.
The vigilante also recovered a gun from one of the suspects, according to SPYROWNEWS reports. The arrested suspects have been handed over to the police at Divisional Police Headquarters, Ovwian/Aladja in Udu LGA.
Investigations revealed that the suspects have confessed to the crimes, and some of the victims have identified them as those who allegedly robbed them before and after the Christmas celebration. The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, is yet to confirm the report.
The arrest of the suspected armed robbers is a significant step towards addressing the growing insecurity in the region. The community’s efforts to tackle crime and ensure public safety are commendable, and it is essential that the authorities continue to support and collaborate with local initiatives to combat crime.
