First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has made a heartfelt appeal to market women across the country to refrain from increasing prices of food

items unfairly during the upcoming festive season. This call to action comes as the Yuletide season draws near, a time when many Nigerians look forward to celebrating with loved ones.

Senator Tinubu’s appeal is particularly significant, given the economic challenges many Nigerians face. By urging market women to maintain fair prices, the First Lady is advocating for the well-being of citizens, especially the most vulnerable populations.

In addition to her appeal, Senator Tinubu recently inaugurated a 3.1-kilometer runway at the Wilberforce Chuba Okadigbo International Airport in Onueke, Ebonyi State. This project is expected to boost socio-economic development in the state, as commercial activities at the airport will create new opportunities for growth and development.

During her visit to Ebonyi State, the First Lady also attended the 2024 Ebonyi Women’s Day Celebration, where she acknowledged the tremendous support women in the state have received from Governor Francis Nwifuru in terms of appointments and interventions.

She praised the governor for exceeding the 35% target for female appointments, citing examples such as the deputy governor and secretary to the state government.

Senator Tinubu also announced that Governor Nwifuru has decided to empower 130 women with businesses, providing them with one million Naira each as business recapitalization grants. Furthermore, the First Lady’s organization, RHI, donated 50 million Naira, 20,000 wrappers, shoes, and bags to support women’s businesses in the state.

Governor Nwifuru expressed his gratitude to the First Lady for her visit and acknowledged the positive impact of RHI’s intervention programs in the state. He also thanked her for bringing dividends of democracy to the women of Ebonyi State.

In her interaction with traditional rulers in the state, Senator Tinubu commended the peaceful nature of Ebonyi State, describing it as a beacon of hope for the country. She emphasized the importance of continued blessings and prayers for the land, appealing to the traditional rulers to lead in this regard.
