Fire Incident Wreaks Havoc on Ibadan Shops, Property Worth Millions Destroyed
A devastating fire incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Tollgate area along the Lagos/Ibadan expressway in Ibadan, Oyo State. The fire ravaged at least four shops, destroying property worth millions of naira and other valuable items.According to eyewitnesses, the incident was reported to the Oyo State Fire Service around 5:50 am. The General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed that the fire was caused by a naked flame left unattended by a woman cooking in one of the affected shops.Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident. However, the destruction of property and valuable items is estimated to be in the millions of naira. The Oyo State Fire Service was able to save multiple shops from being affected by the fire, preventing further damage and losses.This incident highlights the importance of fire safety and the need for individuals to be cautious when handling open flames.
