In a move aimed at strengthening border security and curbing illegal migration, the Federal Government of Nigeria has detained 828 illegal immigrants at a detention facility.
This development is part of the government’s efforts to address the challenges posed by irregular migration and ensure the safety and security of citizens.The detained immigrants, who were apprehended by immigration officials, are from various countries,
including those from the West African sub-region. The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to protecting the country’s borders and preventing illegal activities that can compromise national security.
According to the Comptroller General of Immigration, Muhammad Babandede, the detention of the illegal immigrants is a testament to the government’s resolve to enforce immigration laws and regulations. Babandede emphasized that the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS)
will continue to work tirelessly to identify and apprehend individuals who enter the country illegally.The detention facility, which is equipped with modern amenities, provides a safe and secure environment for the detained immigrants.
