The Enugu State Government has taken decisive action against criminal activities by demolishing a building used as a kidnappers’ den in Umueze Awkunanaw,
Nkanu West Local Government Area. The property, allegedly operated by the prime suspect Igwenagu Ogbodo and his gang, was the site of a recent kidnapping incident.
During a coordinated security operation earlier this week, law enforcement agencies rescued a victim from the
bungalow and recovered firearms. However, Ogbodo and several accomplices managed to escape, reportedly sustaining gunshot wounds during the raid.
At the demolition site, Hon. John Ogbodo, Chairman of Nkanu West LGA, commended Governor Peter Mbah for his unwavering commitment to combating
insecurity in the state. He emphasized that the demolition was in line with Enugu State’s laws, which mandate the destruction of properties used for criminal activities.
The demolition serves as a stern warning to other criminals and property owners, underscoring the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards criminality.
Authorities are intensifying efforts to apprehend Igwenagu Ogbodo and his associates, ensuring that there is no safe haven for criminals in Enugu State.
