A devastating incident has shaken the Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, leaving a community in mourning. Danladi, a young man slated to tie the
knot in December 2024, was brutally murdered by suspected cultists. The horrific event occurred at a friend’s shop, mere meters away from the Esigie Police Division.
According to an eyewitness who wished to remain anonymous, Danladi was sitting in his friend’s shop on Enohuwa Street, off First East Circular Road, when the gunmen struck. Emerging from a GLK Benz, they shot him twice at close range.
The eyewitness described Danladi as an affable individual, the son of Seriki Hausa in the area. “Danladi’s demise has created an immense void in his family and left his would-be wife reeling in pain,” they said. “He had already begun distributing wedding invitations, eagerly anticipating his December nuptials.”
Edo State Police spokesman, SP Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident and assured that the Command is working diligently to curb cultism in the state. “We are doing everything within the law to tame cultism,” he stated. “The situation is under control.” Yamu urged the public to provide valuable information to aid the Police in combating cult-related crimes.
This senseless killing has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving many to question the escalating violence in the region. As the investigation unfolds, residents are urged to remain vigilant and cooperative with law enforcement.
The tragic loss of Danladi’s life serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by cultism. As the community mourns, it is essential for residents to work together with law enforcement to prevent such incidents in the future.
