A shocking incident has occurred in Edo State, where a man, Osaro Ahuwa, has been arrested for allegedly burning down his estranged wife’s house on New Year’s Day. The arrest was made by the Edo State Police Command following a distress call from Osariten Terecy, the sister of the victim, Uyi Tina.
According to the police, Osariten reported that her sister was asleep in her residence at Asemota Street, Idunowinna Quarters, Benin City, when Osaro Ahuwa, the estranged husband, went to her house with a keg of fuel and set the building ablaze at about 1:30 am on New Year’s Day. The woman escaped with burns, but the house was burnt down with everything inside, including £4,000 and a Lexus RX 330
The police stated that Osaro Ahuwa, along with one other accomplice, has been arrested and is currently in custody. Investigation is ongoing, according to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Moses Joel Yamu.
Further investigation revealed that Osaro Ahuwa had been threatening his estranged wife, Uyi Tina, and had previously destroyed her Lexus 330 Jeep during a misunderstanding. Uyi Tina had also accused Osaro Ahuwa of being violent and overly controlling, which led to her decision to quit the marriage.
In a surprising twist, it was discovered that Uyi Tina’s elder brother, Odaro Oviarobo, was involved in the incident and had provided Osaro Ahuwa with information about his sister’s return to Nigeria. Odaro Oviarobo had allegedly harbored grievances against his sister, accusing her of withholding financial assistance despite building a hotel.
