Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has proudly declared that his administration has achieved an unprecedented turnaround in all critical sectors of the state’s economy, dubbing it a ‘silent economic revolution’. This remarkable feat has been accomplished despite the significant infrastructural deficit inherited by his government in 2019, particularly in the areas of roads in border communities and federal highways.
Governor Abiodun made these remarks during the 14th Annual Lecture/Award ceremony of the Nigerian News Direct Newspaper, where he was honored with the ‘Man of the Year Award’. He reiterated his commitment to all-round development in Ogun State, aiming to leave a lasting legacy of growth and prosperity in the Gateway State.
Some of the notable achievements highlighted by Governor Abiodun include the construction of over 600km of roads across the three Senatorial Districts, the development of a world-class Agro-cargo Airport, and a significant increase in the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) base of the state. These accomplishments have positioned Ogun State as the most viable state in Nigeria in terms of IGR generation.
Furthermore, Governor Abiodun emphasized that his administration has transformed the business environment in Ogun State, making it more investor-friendly and favorable. This has led to the state becoming the best in terms of Ease of Doing Business and the investor destination of choice in Nigeria. The state is now home to over 6,000 manufacturing firms in various industrial clusters, contributing substantially to the micro economy of the state and the Nigerian macro economic growth.
Governor Abiodun expressed his gratitude to the management of the Nigerian News Direct Newspaper for the honor bestowed upon him. He pledged to continue on the path of purposeful and responsible leadership, driven by a patriotic inclination.
