Days after the cult clash at Ijagun in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, where one cultist named “Mosquito” was killed and assailants left with his severed hand, the Igbeba Police Division has arrested one of the suspected killers.
According to a report, on 17 August 2024, the police arrested one of the cultists named Kunle Poly, at a hideout in Isiwo-Ijebu. He is being held at the Igbeba Police Division and undergoing police preliminary investigation.
The police swoop on the fleeing suspects, upon receiving the credible information about the Isiwo hideout. The action of the detectives, let to the arrest of Kunle Poly, a 34 years old from Itun Oke Ijebu Isiwo.
During interrogations, Kunle Poly reportedly admitted to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity. A search of his residence, led to the recovery of a Beretta pistol with six live rounds, two UTC axes and charms.
Police investigation is ongoing to unravel the pattern of cultists severing left hand of their victims. This will eventually lead to the arrest of the other fleeing criminals.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha, said the arrest will solve the problem of cultism in Isiwo Ijebu, Ijagun and Ijebu Ode.
