A devastating incident has occurred in the Sabon Borno area of Sokoto State, where unidentified gunmen have kidnapped seven travellers, comprising six women and a driver. According to Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the gunmen intercepted a commercial vehicle near Chin Golf Village early Tuesday morning.
The victims were forced out of the vehicle and taken into the forest. The report suggests that the gunmen are suspected to be associates of Turji Bello, a notorious bandit leader. This incident has sent shockwaves throughout the region, leaving many to wonder about the safety of travellers in the area.
Efforts to reach the Sokoto State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ahmed Rufa’i, proved abortive as he did not respond to calls made by SPYROWNEWS. The lack of response from the authorities has raised concerns about the handling of the situation.
The kidnapping of these travellers is a stark reminder of the insecurity that plagues many parts of Nigeria. The government and security agencies must take decisive action to address this issue and ensure the safe release of the victims.
