The statement is a strong rebuke of Turji’s allegations, and a testament to the group’s confidence in Matawalle’s character and leadership. A video has surfaced in which a wanted bandit kingpin, Kachalla Bello Turji, accuses the former governor of Zamfara State and current minister of state for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle, of supporting banditry in the state while in office as governor.
The Patriots for the Advancement of Peace and Social Development have released a statement saying that no right-thinking person should pay attention to Turji’s allegations, which they describe as mischievous, baseless, diversionary, a hallucination and a figment of the imagination of a murderer.
The group highlights Matawalle’s proactive leadership and integrity in fighting banditry, which they believe led to his appointment as minister of state for defence.
The group notes that the current synergy amongst security agencies in the fight against terror is an eloquent testimony of Matawalle’s leadership acumen and political savvy.
