A family travelling along the New-Bussa–Babanna road in Niger State was attacked by armed bandits, leaving five people
severely injured.The disturbing incident was disclosed by well-known security analyst, Zagazola Makama, in a post
shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday. According to Makama’s report, the attack occurred around 4 p.m. on Sunday, near
Ehka Kuka/Audu Fari village. He revealed that the victims Alhaji Fatayi Raheemi, aged 38, his wife, and other family
members identified as Fatima Nurudeen (27), Munirat Isyaka (25), Aishat Ismail (25), and Rashidat Fatayi (30) were
travelling in a Mercedes-Benz car from New-Bussa to Babanna town when the gunmen opened fire on their vehicle.The
sporadic shooting reportedly caused the driver to lose control, forcing the car off the road. All occupants sustained varying
degrees of injuries during the attack. Local residents who witnessed the incident confirmed that security personnel later
arrived at the scene and evacuated the injured victims to the Primary Health Centre in Babanna, where they are
currently receiving medical attention. Authorities also confirmed that the damaged vehicle had been taken to the
Babanna Police Station for investigation, while efforts are underway to track down the perpetrators and restore safety along
the route.The New-Bussa–Babanna road has in recent times witnessed increasing attacks by armed gangs targeting motorists and commuters, prompting renewed calls for improved security presence in the area.
