Atalanta will be looking to continue their impressive run of form when they welcome AC Milan to the Gewiss Stadium in Serie A on Friday. A win for the hosts would not only move them top of the table but also equal the club’s record winning streak of nine league games.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s side has been in stellar form, winning their last eight league games, including a 3-0 victory over leaders Napoli. They currently trail Napoli by just one point and will be looking to capitalize on any slip-ups by the table-toppers.
However, Atalanta’s task will not be easy, as they face a challenging encounter against seven-time European champions AC Milan. The Rossoneri have been inconsistent of late, winning only two of their last five Serie A games, but they will be looking to bounce back and get their season back on track.
Atalanta’s winning streak has seen them gather 31 points from their first 14 games, a feat they have achieved for the first time since the introduction of the three-points-for-a-win era. They will be looking to continue this momentum and make history by equalling their longest winning streak in Serie A.
Meanwhile, Napoli will be looking to maintain their momentum when they host Lazio on Sunday. The Partenopei have bounced back from a recent slump, winning their last two games against Roma and Torino. They will be looking to make it three wins on the trot and prove that they are fully back on track.
Lazio coach Marco Baroni has acknowledged the challenge that lies ahead, saying, “Napoli are deservedly first in the standings, and we want to do well.” The Biancocelesti will be looking to cause an upset and get their own season back on track.
