President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has shed light on the reasons behind President Bola Tinubu’s decision to appoint former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, as a Minister. According to Akpabio, Wike’s impressive performance in various roles, including local government chairman, Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Government, Minister, and two-term governor, made him an ideal candidate for the position
Akpabio praised Wike’s work ethic and commitment to public service, describing him as a “workaholic public officer” who gives his best in every role. He also commended Wike’s achievements as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), saying he has turned Abuja into a “model city” and a “huge construction site” in less than two years.
Akpabio’s remarks were made during a book launch celebrating Wike’s 57th birthday in Port Harcourt. He took the opportunity to acknowledge Wike’s contributions to Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly during his governorship. Akpabio highlighted Wike’s leadership qualities, his commitment to infrastructure development, education, and healthcare, and his passion for sports and youth development.
The President of the Senate also thanked Wike’s family, particularly his wife, for their unwavering support throughout his career. He praised their partnership as an inspiration to many, demonstrating that love and unity can elevate a leader’s impact.
Akpabio concluded by praying for Wike’s continued success and impact in his role as Minister, wishing him a happy birthday and many more years of service to the nation.
