AEDC Announces Planned Blackout in Abuja, Cites Maintenance and Technical Issues

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a planned blackout in Abuja, citing maintenance and technical issues as the reasons for the outage. According to the AEDC, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will be conducting a maintenance exercise on the Gwagwalada 330kv TS, 150MVA TR1 and TR2, which will affect power supply in Abuja, Nasarawa state, and its environs. The AEDC explained that the maintenance exercise is essential to ensure better service delivery and prevent future power outages. The company apologized for the inconvenience the blackout will cause and assured customers that the exercise will be completed as soon as possible.In a related development, the AEDC has also attributed recent power outages in parts of Abuja to technical faults on some of its equipment. The company explained that it is working to rectify the faults and restore power supply to the affected areas.

Reasons for the Blackout:
