In a swift and decisive operation, the Nigeria Police Force in Borno State has recovered three projectiles, averting a potential explosion in the state capital, Maiduguri. The successful recovery was made possible by the prompt reporting of a suspicious sack containing unidentified items by a vigilant resident, Asabe James, in the Dala Kafanti Area of Maiduguri ¹.According to Nahum Daso, the Public Relations Officer of the Borno Police Command, the police received the report on January 2, 2025, at around 9:25 am and swiftly swung into action. The Command’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, Base 13 Maiduguri, cordoned off the area, swept it, and recovered the three projectiles from the suspicious sack ¹.Preliminary investigations revealed that the projectiles were dropped by unknown persons early in the morning on the same day. To prevent such incidents in the future, the police sensitized community members on Explosive Ordnance Risk Awareness (EORE) and safety measures ¹.The successful recovery of the projectiles and the subsequent sensitization of the community demonstrate the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens in Borno State.
